ChaloChalo

How ChaloChalo works

Every day thousands of cars travel between Pakistan's cities with empty seats, while thousands of people struggle to find affordable, comfortable transport. Inside cities, most local buses and wagons have no timetable and no app — you stand at a stop not knowing what's coming.

ChaloChalo (چلو چلو — “let's go!”) fixes both, with the community:

  1. Inter-city ride sharing: drivers post seats; passengers book or negotiate; everyone splits the cost.
  2. City car pools: commuters share daily routes, or go live when they leave so people nearby can hop in.
  3. Live public transport: passengers share where their bus or wagon is, so others know what's coming and how full it is.

Frequently asked questions

Is ChaloChalo free?+

Yes. Posting, searching, booking, chatting and live sharing are all free. We don't take any commission — passengers pay drivers directly in cash or by transfer.

Is this a taxi service?+

No. ChaloChalo is a community for people who are already travelling somewhere to share empty seats and split costs. Fares should cover fuel and tolls, not make a profit. Use the fare calculator for a fair price.

How does fare negotiation work?+

If a driver marks a ride as negotiable, tap “Negotiate fare” and send an offer. The driver can accept, decline or send a counter-offer. When someone accepts, the seat is booked at that price and both phone numbers unlock.

What's the difference between “Request to book” and “Instant booking”?+

With instant booking your seat is confirmed immediately. Otherwise the driver reviews your request first, usually within a few hours.

I can't find a ride. What now?+

Post a ride request so drivers on that route can find you and send offers, and set a route alert to get notified when a matching ride is posted.

How does the live bus map work?+

Passengers already on a bus, wagon, coach or train share its location, route and how full it is. If you're waiting at a stop, tap “Near me” to see what's coming towards you and roughly when it will arrive.

How do points work, and how do you stop fake locations?+

You earn 1 point per minute of verified movement while sharing live (up to 120 per trip). Every GPS update is checked server-side: it must be inside Pakistan, have reasonable accuracy, and imply a realistic speed for that vehicle. Jumps (spoofing) pause points for that trip and mark it as unreliable. Stronger verification, like cross-checking several riders on the same bus, is on our roadmap.

Who can see my phone number?+

Only people you've confirmed a ride with (an accepted booking or accepted offer). Your gender and emergency contacts are never shown to anyone.

Which cities are covered?+

All major cities (Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta, Multan, Faisalabad, Hyderabad, Gujranwala, Sialkot) and 30+ more, including northern areas. Inside a city, you can post commute rides between any two areas.

Can I use it as an app?+

Yes. On Android (Chrome) or iPhone (Safari), open the menu and tap “Add to Home screen”. It works like an app.
